HEAD & NECK ONCOLOGY SURGERY

Head & Neck Oncology Surgery forms part of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery and deals with all tumours and cancers of the mouth, head, and neck region. Commonly found cancers are squamous cell carcinoma, ameloblastoma, and salivary gland tumours. Oral cancers are increasing in prevalence and accounts for 90% of head and neck tumours.

About DR MALCOLM DU PREEZ

Dr Malcolm du Preez qualified as a Maxillofacial and Oral surgeon from the University of the Witwatersrand. He worked in 2 of the biggest hospitals in Africa, Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital and Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital.

Dr Du Preez specialises in all aspects of Maxillofacial and Oral surgery with special interest in cleft lip and palate as well as in head and neck oncology surgery. Dr Du Preez completed a fellowship in head and neck oncology at the University Hospital, Leuven, Belgium in 2019 and also completed the Operation Smile Regan fellowship in cleft lip and palate surgery in 2020.

He is a dedicated surgeon with Operation Smile, a charity that performs pro-bona cleft surgery around the world to underprivileged patients that suffer from facial deformities.

Apart from work, he enjoys spending time with family and friends outdoors with a special love for the ocean.
